Need Gum Gone? Chewing gum removal can be a sticky situation, whether it is stuck on your concrete, parking lot or the side of a building, gum eventually turns into a smudge on concrete. But before that happens, visitors and clients coming into a store or office will step on it and track it in all over your carpets and entryway mats. Then it’s embedded deep into the carpet fibers and into the porous surface of concrete, just waiting for someone to step in it again, to track it somewhere else in your building.
We are proud to provide gum removal as one of our commercial pressure washing services in Wilmington NC. Find information on our service below:
The best methods for removing chewing gum from concrete usually depends on the gum’s age and level of penetration into the concrete surface. If the chewing gum was left recently and it hasn’t penetrated the surface yet, we are sometimes able to remove it by covering it with ice until it freezes, then scraping the gum off with a putty knife.
The ice forces the chewing gum to freeze into a workable consistency compared to a warm and sticky mess. Once the gum is frozen, we slide a putty knife or scraper under the gum. Next we slide the scraper slowly under the gum and the whole piece should peel right off the concrete.
The above method is only possible with brand new gum.
When we remove gum that is already black, or is smashed deep down into the concrete, we use a hot water power washer with the heat dialed up to 200 Degrees to melt the chewing gum. For this type of gum removal, we don’t use high pressure because that will sometimes damage the surface of the concrete!
Our team never uses more pressure than necessary to safely clean concrete surfaces. These surfaces can be destroyed much easier than most people think, especially if they’re only a couple of years old. Concrete can need up to 100 years to cure completely. That is why we always use hot water and the least amount of pressure possible for our professional gum removal professional.
To completely remove gum from parking lots and other surfaces we use custom designed hot water power washing tools and special soaps that enable us to clean the surface without leading to any damages.
Using special 200 degree hot water pressure washers and low pressure, we safely remove gum and surface dirt all while protecting the surface. Our process will also eliminate bacteria and viruses that are found in gum on concrete.
By hiring Wilmington Pressure Washing for regular maintenance cleaning at your store or office, your commercial property will have a better appearance and all gum removal issues will be dealt with! You will also ensure less damage to carpets and other flooring while making your storefront much more inviting to visitors.
